Beech Grove Hunt Cross Country Annual
Schooling Show |
One of our biggest events is our Spring cross-country schooling show, held the first Saturday in June. We offer four levels of competition: Pre-Novice (jumps 18" or less), Novice (jumps to 2'4"), Intermediate (jumps to 2' 6"), and Open (jumps to 3'3").
The
pre-novice and novice divisions are held in enclosed
fields, with simple inviting obstacles. We move to
the outside courses and more challenging terrain and
jumps for the intermediate and open divisions. A
water obstacle was added in 2005.
The purpose of the schooling show is to allow new riders and horses to have a fun and confidence building experience, and for the more experienced horses and riders to tune up for the upcoming eventing season.
The courses are beautifully decorated, and there is also a food concession, professional photographer, and tack consignment sale.
There is an initial entry fee for each division for each horse/rider pair. Extra rounds can be taken for a nominal additional fee. Rounds are taken on a first-come basis - there are no assigned start times. There are no time penalties, so people can go at their own speeds. Each person who gets a clear round receives a ribbon.
